Client and Goals
De Heer Medicom is a professional partner with over 60 years of experience in the healthcare sector. They distinguish themselves in particular through the expertise in the field of development and implementation of innovative healthcare domotics solutions and System integrations.
The objective was indeed to create a series of intercoms, very responsive and connected to a cloud, where it would be possible to updates and improve the devices from anywhere in any moment.
Challenges
The development of the ZorgUnit and RoomBus units for De Heer Medicom demanded innovative problem-solving and precision. The full-duplex intercom system posed significant challenges, as eliminating echoes and feedback required extensive iteration and fine-tuning. Integrating reliable notification mechanisms like pull cords and buttons within the compact RoomBus units added another layer of complexity. Ensuring the system’s seamless operation within healthcare environments also required meticulous attention to durability, compliance with standards, and interoperability among all components, including audio interfaces and the Linux-based platform. These challenges were compounded by the need to balance cutting-edge functionality with user-friendliness for both patients and caregivers.

Our role extended beyond technical execution—we coordinated the entire process, ensuring that every aspect, from conceptual design to final assembly, aligned with the project’s goals. Acting as a bridge between innovation and practicality, we collaborated with partners like GBO for enclosure design while ensuring that the engineering and manufacturing met the stringent requirements of healthcare environments. By managing this interconnected process, we delivered a cohesive solution that combined advanced functionality, user-centered design, and robust reliability.
